Ileana Chu ’92, ’97S (MBA), head of the Private Institutional Capital (“PIC”) Group at Truist Securities, will discuss her career path since she left Simon, how the skills she learned during her MBA program have helped her advance to and succeed in her current role, and her insights on being a woman business leader in the finance industry.

Ileana has been in the investment banking industry for 25 years and joined Truist Securities in November 2014. Since October 2021, Ileana has served as the head of the Private Institutional Capital (“PIC”) Group, which provides investment banking coverage for financial sponsors and alternative capital investors, including family offices, growth equity, venture capital, private credit funds, etc. The PIC Group helps its clients transact through the full product suite of M&A, equity capital markets, leveraged finance/HY, and other strategic financings.
From May 2018 to September 2021, Ileana was the head of the Structured Products Group, which provides originations, structuring, and asset management for balance sheet securitization facilities, ABS capital markets transactions, subscription finance, and working capital solutions. Prior to that role, Ileana led the Investment Grade DCM Origination efforts for financials, REITs & homebuilders, TMT, and healthcare sectors, as well as serving as the head of debt private placements across all industry sectors.
Ileana’s background includes heading the Esoteric/Structured Solutions Syndicate Desk at Deutsche Bank Securities, ABS syndicate/trading at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and investment grade DCM origination at Bank of America Securities.
Ileana received a BA in economics and political economics from the University of Rochester, a JD from the State University of New York School of Law, and an MBA from Simon Business School at the University of Rochester. Ileana is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
